Scarlet and Violet Booster Pack Changes

Scarlet and Violet Booster Pack Changes

The Pokemon Company international had previously stated that because of inflation all over the world, the price of Scarlet & Violet booster packs would be also going up in price. But to make it up to you, every Scarlet & Violet booster pack will now have three foil cards guaranteed.

They're also changing up the order of the cards, so the rarest ones are gonna be in the back. Here's the new order: 4x common cards, 3x uncommons, 2x reverse holos, and 1x holo. After that, there'll be 1x Basic Energy and 1x code card.

Because of this new setup, TPCi got rid of two common cards so they could put in another reverse holo and a guaranteed holo.

If you manage to pull an Illustration Rare or a Special Illustration Rare (which are both Secret Rares), they'll take the place of the second reverse holo and will have gold stars with one or two colors to show how rare they are.

Holo slot can also be replaced by a Secret Rare cards, which can contain a variety of cards such as Rare Holo, Double Rare Holo (a regular Pokemon ex), Ultra Rare Holo (full art) or Hyper Rare Holo (gold card)

These cards also have different rarity symbols:

  • Rare Holos have a single black-colored star
  • Double Rare Holos have double black-colored stars
  • Ultra Rare Holos have two white stars
  • Hyper Rares have 3 gold stars

Theoretically, a single pack may contain 2x reverse holos and 1x Miraidon ex, which could be either Double Rare, Ultra Rare, or Hyper Rare Holo. Alternatively, another pack may contain 1x reverse holo, 1x Miraidon ex, which is a Special Illustrator Rare Holo, and 1x Skeleredge, which is a Rare Holo. The majority of packs typically include two reverse holos and one Rare Holo.

This new card arrangement adds to the anticipation for fans as they approach the rarest cards at the end of their booster pack. Streamers will also benefit from the updated card order as it makes it easier for them to display the rarest cards at the end of each pack opening. If you choose to use the "pack trick," you only need to move the basic Energy card to the front of the pack and discard the code card as usual. Alternatively, you can discard the last two cards of the pack without moving anything.

TPCi previously announced that non-holo rares will be phased out, meaning that all rares and higher cards will now be foil. As a result, every booster pack now comes with one guaranteed foil card, marking the first time for a regular English set. The removal of Rainbow Rares has pleased many fans.
